When I was 18 years old, naive and overly ambitious I decided I wanted to build a house - so I did. This project started in May of 2019 and slowly progressed until I moved in, August of 2023. My dad and I built this house together, mostly working on the weekends as he was working full-time and I was a full-time student with a part-time job. We got additional help from family and friends when we needed extra hands. It was a long, grueling, tiring, humbling and ultimately extremely rewarding project. Below you will see process pictures from the beginning to it's current state (yes there are still things that need to be finished). It's 640 square feet including the outdoor deck and lofted bedroom. We used as much reclaimed materials as possible: kitchen cabinetry, windows, doors, wood flooring, tile flooring, interior wood trim, appliances etc. I am so incredibly proud of this project. I love my little house in the woods.
